FC Internazionale Milano vs ACF Fiorentina
Our record: FC Internazionale Milano · ACF Fiorentina
Pre-Match Analysis
Head-to-Head
Four meetings sit on the record, and the striking thing about them is how little the goal totals move. Fiorentina won 3-0 at home on 6 February 2025, a match already finished by half-time at 3-0. Four days later, on 10 February 2025, Inter won the return 2-1, level at 1-1 at the break. Inter then took the next home fixture 3-0 on 29 October 2025, with the scoring all arriving after a goalless first half, and the most recent meeting, at Fiorentina on 22 March 2026, ended 1-1 after Inter had led at the interval.
Three goals, three goals, three goals, two goals. Three of the four cleared two and a half, and the only one that did not still had both sides scoring. Inter have won both of the home legs in that sequence, by one goal and then by three, so the venue has decided the result while the total has stayed remarkably stable.
Form Guide
Inter won the title last season with 87 points from 38 matches, 27 wins against five defeats, 89 scored and 35 conceded for a goal difference of plus 54. No other club came within ten points. Fiorentina finished 15th on 42, with nine wins, 15 draws and 14 defeats, 41 scored and 50 conceded.
Seven rounds in, the current samples are seven matches each, which is enough to be read as form rather than as a small-sample accident. Inter are 1st on 19 points with a goal difference of plus 12: six wins and a draw, with 21 scored and nine conceded. They beat Monza 4-1, won 1-0 at Cagliari, beat Napoli 3-2 and Udinese 5-3, drew 2-2 at Roma, beat Parma 3-0 and won 3-1 at Bologna on 17 October.
Fiorentina are 19th on four points, goal difference minus nine, with one win, one draw and five defeats. They lost 4-0 at Roma, 3-0 at home to Frosinone and 2-1 at home to Torino, won 4-2 at Venezia, drew 1-1 with Napoli, lost 2-1 at Genoa and were beaten 3-1 at home by Como on 18 October. Eight scored, 17 conceded, and an opponent has scored against them in all seven matches.
Key Factors
Inter's home record is the backbone of the selection. Four home matches, four wins, 15 goals scored and six conceded. The goal totals in those games read five, five, eight and three: not one of them finished under two and a half, and only the win over Parma was a clean sheet. This is a side that wins at home by outscoring opponents rather than by shutting them out.
Fiorentina's defence is the other half. Seventeen conceded in seven is a rate above two a game, and it has been consistent rather than skewed by one collapse: four at Roma, three at home to Frosinone, three at home to Como in their most recent outing. A back line conceding at that rate away to the league leaders is not the profile that produces a quiet afternoon.
Nor are Fiorentina a side that stops playing when they travel. Their only win of the season came away, 4-2 at Venezia, and their three away matches have produced five goals for and eight against. Six of their seven matches overall have gone over two and a half. Whatever else is wrong, their games are not tight.
The table position cuts against us, and it should be said plainly. A club sitting 19th on four points after seven rounds has every reason to defend deep and settle for damage limitation, and they have one piece of evidence that it works: the 1-1 with Napoli, the single match of their seven to finish under two and a half goals.
The last factor is what the fixture means in late October. Inter are top and in the middle of a run that has produced points in every game. Fiorentina are already in trouble, which tends to make a side either cautious or desperate. Neither of those states historically leads to a 0-0 at the home of the division's most productive attack.
Our Verdict
Our pick is Over 2.5 Goals at 1.45, with high confidence.
Four separate strands agree. FC Internazionale Milano have gone over the line in all four home matches and in six of seven overall. ACF Fiorentina have gone over in six of seven and have conceded in every match they have played. The head-to-head record carries three goals in three of its four games. And the raw rates — 21 scored in seven for the hosts, 17 conceded in seven for the visitors — point the same way without needing any interpretation.
We are also on the right side of our own book here. Over 45 settled over/under picks the market strikes at 62.2% for a return of plus eight per cent, the best of any market we price, and 1.45 sits at the top of the cheapest band rather than in the 1.80 to 2.10 range that has cost us most. That is not the reason for the pick, but it does not argue against it.
The honest alternative was an Inter win, and we passed: at 1st against 19th the price would be short enough to be unattractive, and the result line tells us less than the goal line does here.
What beats it: a Fiorentina side that decides to concede possession and the territory with it, keeps the first half goalless, and turns the game into the 1-1 they managed against Napoli. Inter's 1-0 at Cagliari is proof they will take a narrow win when it is offered, and a 0-0 at half-time would leave this needing three goals in 45 minutes.
