RC Strasbourg Alsace vs AS Monaco FC

This is the one section that argues against the pick, so we will put it first and put it plainly. AS Monaco FC have not lost to RC Strasbourg Alsace in the five meetings our record holds. On 20 August 2023 Monaco won 3-0 at home, half-time 2-0. On 10 March 2024 they won 1-0 in Alsace. On 9 November 2024 they won 3-1 in Alsace, having trailed 1-0 at the interval. On 19 April 2025 the sides drew 0-0 at Monaco. And in the reverse fixture of this campaign, on 31 August 2025, Monaco won 3-2 at home after leading 1-0 at the break.

Four wins and a draw from five, and — the detail that matters most for a home double chance — both of the meetings played in Alsace ended in Monaco victories. Strasbourg have not taken a point off this opponent at home in the span our data covers. One of the five games produced five goals, one four and one three, while the other two produced one goal and none, so there is no consistent shape to the fixture beyond the result.

RC Strasbourg Alsace go into the final round eighth on 50 points from 33 matches, with 53 scored and 43 conceded for a goal difference of +10. That is 14 wins, eight draws and eleven defeats, and it comes off a seventh-place, 57-point finish in 2024/25. The split is the interesting part. At home they are 8-3-5, having scored 25 and conceded 15 — only Paris Saint-Germain FC, Racing Club de Lens and Olympique Lyonnais have shipped fewer goals on their own ground, and Lille OSC match the figure. The recent home evidence cuts against that season-long tightness. They beat OGC Nice 3-1 on 4 April, then lost at home to Stade Rennais FC 1901 0-3 on 19 April and to Toulouse FC 1-2 on 3 May. Away from home the run has been better: a 3-2 win at FC Lorient on 26 April, a 1-1 draw at Angers SCO on 10 May and a 2-1 win at Stade Brestois 29 on 13 May, four days before this fixture.

AS Monaco FC are seventh on 54 points, 16-6-11, with 56 scored and 49 conceded for +7. They finished third in 2024/25 on 61 points, so this is a season below their own recent standard. Their 49 goals conceded is the highest total of any club in the current top eight, and the away half of it is where the leak is: 6-4-6 on the road, 23 scored and 26 conceded, against a home record of 10-2-5 and 33 scored.

Monaco's last five before this round produced one win: 1-4 at Paris FC on 10 April, 2-2 at home to AJ Auxerre on 19 April, 2-2 at Toulouse FC on 25 April, 2-1 at FC Metz on 2 May, and a 0-1 home defeat by Lille OSC on 10 May. They have had a week's rest since.

What the table still allows is the first thing to weigh, and it is uneven. Strasbourg's eighth place cannot change: 53 points is their maximum, one short of the 54 Monaco already hold, and FC Lorient in ninth can reach only 48. The home side are playing for nothing measurable. Monaco can still reach 57 and Olympique de Marseille in sixth are on 56, so the visitors have a live reason to chase a result. That asymmetry is a genuine strike against a home double chance and we are not going to dress it up.

Against it sits the venue split. Strasbourg's home defence is among the four tightest in Ligue 1 across a full season of fixtures; Monaco's away defence has conceded more than it has scored. Four points separate the clubs after 33 rounds, which is a narrower gap than seventh against eighth usually implies.

The turnaround also favours the visitors. Strasbourg played at Brest on 13 May and have three days fewer recovery than an opponent whose last outing was 10 May.

Finally the price. 1.42 works out at a little over 70% — the pick needs Strasbourg to avoid defeat seven times in ten. Both are close enough to break-even that the price does the work, not the market label.

Strip it back and the argument is a home ground that has conceded 15 goals in 16 matches against a visiting side whose away defence has conceded 26 in 16, with four points between them in the table and one of them with nothing left to gain or lose from the result. That is a reasonable basis for backing the home side not to be beaten. It is not a strong one, because two of the three most recent games in Alsace were home defeats, and because the entire head-to-head record points the other way.

The thing that beats it is the motivation gap: Monaco arriving with a place in the table still to play for, a full week of preparation, and a record in this fixture of five meetings without defeat. If the visitors treat the last round as a competitive match and the hosts treat it as a formality, the pick is in trouble from the start.
