The champions needed one half to make this safe and used the second to make it emphatic: Elche CF 0-5 FC Barcelona, two goals up at the interval and three more added after it.

Elche's home record was supposed to be the obstacle. In 2025/26 they lost twice in nineteen matches at the Martínez Valero, conceded nineteen there and took 35 of their 43 points at this ground — a home-only ranking of sixth, from a side that finished thirteenth. Almost the entire season was built there, because away from Elche they won once in nineteen and shipped 38 goals, the worst road record in the division. We also named the risk correctly, a disciplined Elche home defence of nineteen conceded in nineteen, and that risk simply did not materialise.
