Post-Match Analysis

Match Summary

A year to the day after winning 1-0 in Monaco, Paris FC beat them again: Paris FC 3-1 AS Monaco FC. They were two up at half-time and the second half finished 1-1, so the margin built before the break was the margin they kept.

Before kick-off the table had them the other way round, two places and a point apart: Monaco fourth on 15 points, Paris FC sixth on 14, both with a goal difference of plus four.

Paris FC's season had been made at home: three wins and a draw, nine goals scored, including 3-0 against Nice and 4-3 against Rennes. Both their defeats had come away, 1-0 at Lorient and, in their previous match, 2-1 at Lens.

Monaco had lost only once in eight, 1-0 at Lorient, and had conceded seven in total, never more than two in a game. They had also stopped winning. Their last victory was 2-1 against Lens on 18 September, followed by a 2-2 with Toulouse, the defeat at Lorient and a 1-1 with Lille. Three goals against is their worst defensive return of the season, and beyond the fact that two of them came before the interval, the record does not say how they arrived.

That makes three league meetings since November 2025 and three Paris FC wins, the middle one 4-1 at home in April. Monaco have scored twice in the three.

We never published a call on this one; the site was idle over the weekend that straddled the end of October.

What It Settled

Paris FC go to 17 points from nine games and plus six, and above Monaco, who stay on 15 from nine with their goal difference down to plus two. A point behind before kick-off, Paris FC finish the day two ahead.

Last season Monaco were well clear of them: seventh on 54 points, against Paris FC's 11th on 44. Paris FC's 17 from nine is 1.89 a game against 1.29 last term; Monaco's 15 from nine is 1.67, slightly ahead of their 1.59.

Monaco's run without a win now stands at four league games, two draws and two defeats, since the 2-1 over Lens. Nine games into the season that is a dip rather than a collapse. The goals-against column is where the change shows: seven conceded in their first eight games, three in this one.

Paris FC's home record, now four wins and a draw from five, is what has them in the upper half of the table, and their scoring has gone up with it: 16 goals in nine games, after 47 in 34 last season. Over a 34-game season it is a good start, and that is all it is.
