A promoted side led at half-time and was pegged back: RC Deportivo La Coruña 1-1 Elche CF finished level after Deportivo had taken a 1-0 into the interval on their first home fixture back in the top flight.

The visitors' record made the first half the surprise and the second the correction. Elche finished 2025/26 thirteenth on 43 points, and the split beneath that mid-table finish is one of the most lopsided in the division: 9-8-2 at home, 1-5-13 away. One win in nineteen trips, thirty-eight conceded on the road, and only six away days out of nineteen on which they avoided defeat. Everything that made Elche a functional side lived at their own ground. Taking a point in La Coruña puts this among that minority of six-in-nineteen afternoons rather than among the thirteen defeats, and their away scoring rate — a shade over a goal a game — is exactly what a single equaliser looks like.

For Deportivo there was nothing measurable before kick-off and there is one line now.
