Como 1907 vs Napoli

There is very little history here, and what exists is worth stating precisely rather than summarising. Como were promoted in 2024, so these clubs have met three times in the league. Napoli won the first, 3-1 at home on 4 October 2024, level at the break before pulling clear. Como won the return, 2-1 at home on 23 February 2025, again level at half-time. The most recent meeting came on 1 November 2025 in Naples and finished goalless, with no goal in either half.

The home and away splits are the heart of this. Napoli's 17 home league games have brought 12 wins, four draws and a single defeat, 30 scored and 15 conceded. Their 17 away games have brought nine wins, two draws and six defeats, 22 scored and 18 conceded. That is a champion's record at home and a good-not-great one on the road, and it is the away half that applies today.

Como's home record is the other side of the argument, and it is a problem for our selection rather than support for it. Nine wins, five draws and three defeats from 17, with 34 scored and 15 conceded — the best scoring return of any half of either side's season. A visitor who wins more than half of its away trips is walking into the strongest room Como have.

What each side is playing for sharpens things. Napoli sit ten points behind the leaders with a maximum of twelve left, so the title is arithmetically alive and practically remote; the realistic target is protecting second. Como in fifth are three points off fourth with four rounds to play, which is the most concrete prize on the pitch this evening. If motivation counts for anything in early May, it counts for the home side.

Against that, the draw is a live outcome in its own right. Napoli have drawn six this season and Como ten, the visitors' away half includes two draws in 17, Napoli have conceded 18 in those 17 road games — barely more than a goal each — and the most recent meeting between these teams produced no goals whatsoever.

The selection is a cover bet, and it should be judged as one. Backing the visitors outright against a side with Como's home numbers is not something the data supports; backing Como outright ignores an eight-point gap and a Napoli away record of nine wins in 17. What is left is the position in between: Napoli's away form is solid enough that they lose only about a third of their road games, and across these two teams' three previous meetings the away side has been beaten by more than a goal only once.

The thing that beats it is Como winning, and there is a clear route to that: 34 goals in 17 at home, only three home defeats all season, a European place three points away, and a visiting side who lost 0-2 at home a fortnight ago and whose away record is the weaker half of their campaign. If Como score first, this selection is in serious trouble.
