Getafe CF vs RC Celta de Vigo

Two meetings last season produced two goals in total, both of them scored by the same side. Getafe CF won 2-0 away on 17 August 2025, then the return at this ground on 1 February 2026 finished 0-0. RC Celta de Vigo did not score in either match.

That is as clean a signal as a two-game sample can give. Four points from six for Getafe, no goals conceded across the fixture, and a goalless afternoon here seven months ago between two sides that finished sixth and seventh. The first factor is Getafe's scoring rate, which is the anchor of the whole selection. Seventy goals across their 38 matches last season is a figure no other club in the division came close to. It was not a phase; it was the identity of the team across a full campaign, and the two matches so far this season have produced four goals between them, three of which arrived in a single second half at Alavés.

The second is that Celta have not scored against this opponent in the two most recent meetings and have scored once in two matches this season. Their 53 goals last season are a respectable full-season number, but the specific evidence in this fixture is a blank at home and a blank away.

The fourth is Celta's schedule. Three matches between 27 August and 3 September, the last of them a trip to Real Sociedad four days before this one, is the kind of run that pushes a visiting side towards containment rather than expansion, particularly one still looking for a first win.
