AJ Auxerre 1-3 Angers SCO, and the half-time card is the part worth pausing on: 1-1. The match was level at the break and finished as a two-goal away win, which places every goal that actually decided it in the second half.

Angers have their first points of the season and Auxerre are still without any, but with two matches played that is a standings note, not a verdict on either club. Two games is not a form line, and both of these clubs have now met opponents from opposite ends of the previous table — Auxerre had already been beaten at Lens, Angers at home by Lille.

The more durable point is directional. Angers spent last season as the division's blank attack and have now scored three away from home in a single match; Auxerre's problem last season was scoring, not conceding, and this evening they gave away three at their own ground. If either of those becomes a pattern it would be a meaningful change to a 2025/26 profile. One match does not make it one.

Both clubs finished 2025/26 in the lower third and both start the new season looking like teams from that part of the table. Nothing here revises that.
