Tournament football is harder to model than a domestic league, and it is worth being blunt about why. Squads assemble with days of preparation rather than months, so club form transfers only loosely. There is no meaningful home-and-away form split for most sides. And motivation shifts between matchday one and matchday three depending on what happens elsewhere in the group — a team already through will rest players, and the price rarely moves far enough to compensate.

What did carry over from the league work is the part that matters most: the price, not the strike rate. A group-stage favourite at 1.30 has to land better than three times in four just to break even, and international football does not offer that kind of reliability. Most of what we found sat in goals and double-chance markets rather than outright winners.
